The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730599 is a DCGT-style solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process for elevated wear and heat resistance. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a UM chip breaker geometry suited for light to medium turning operations. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch), this insert is designed for precision external turning. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and general trade machinists, as well as CNC operators and tool-and-die professionals, specify this insert for finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and specialty alloy workpieces.
This insert is well suited for turning steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light cuts and finishing operations where consistent chip control and surface finish quality are critical. The screw-on holding method and DCGT insert style make it compatible with toolholders designed for that insert family. Typical applications include external turning of shafts, fittings, and precision components on CNC lathes in both job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCGT-style inserts with a screw-on holding method. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes P, M, and S). ISO designation: DCGT 11 T3 08-UM 1105.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before handling. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-on clamping system and verify the insert seats fully and evenly in the pocket before operation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque range for DCGT-style screw-on inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent improper seating or edge damage.
