The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730589 is a DCGT-style solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning and profiling operations. It carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. The insert measures 0.442 inches in length with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 5/32 inch thickness, and a 1/64 inch corner radius. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to medium finishing cuts. Installation is by screw-holding method. This insert is used by CNC machinists and turning center operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 5730589 is suited for turning steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Its 55-degree diamond shape and neutral hand orientation make it a versatile choice for longitudinal turning and light profiling passes. The CoroTurn 107 series is intended for use with compatible screw-clamping toolholders. This insert is particularly effective on ISO material groups P, M, N, and S, with steel listed as the primary workpiece material. Machinists working with difficult-to-machine alloys and close-tolerance finishes will find the UM geometry and PVD coating well matched to their requirements.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DCGT 32.51 inserts. ISO code DCGT 11 T3 04-UM 1125. Verify toolholder seat and screw specifications before use. No additional compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
This insert is installed and indexed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians using a torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw per toolholder manufacturer specifications. Power down and zero-energy-lock the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket seat for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within the same toolholder without confirming compatibility with the toolholder documentation.
