The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730465 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Conforming to ISO code DCGX 11 T3 02-AL H10, it features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius. The H10 carbide grade and bright, uncoated finish make this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on non-ferrous metals. It is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended primarily for turning non-ferrous metals, with secondary application in superalloys and titanium. The AL chip breaker geometry is optimized for the low cutting forces and high surface-finish demands typical of aluminum and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept the DCGX insert style. It is screw-held, providing repeatable indexing across both cutting edges without the need for a clamp that could interfere with chip flow on finishing cuts.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept the DCGX insert style with a screw-clamp holding method. ISO code DCGX 11 T3 02-AL H10 governs dimensional and geometric fit. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw thread specification before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct Torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
