The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730447 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations. It carries the ISO designation DCGT 11 T3 01-UM 1115 and features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a neutral hand orientation. The dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and edge wear protection suited to demanding cutting environments. With a 0.1 mm corner radius and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) and is also rated for superalloys and titanium (ISO material group S). The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light, controlled cuts on these difficult-to-machine materials. It is screw-held, fitting standard DCGT-style toolholders used in CNC lathe and turning center applications across precision manufacturing, aerospace component work, and industrial part production. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling stainless and high-temp alloy turning will find this insert appropriate for their finishing passes.
Designed for use in DCGT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Tolerance code G and clearance code C apply. Consult toolholder documentation to confirm insert size code 32.503 compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping force. Verify insert seating and toolholder pocket cleanliness before resuming cutting operations.
