Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730439 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in a 55-degree diamond (D) shape with a DCGT insert style, it carries a 1125 grade PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating for wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert features a UM chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing cuts on steel and a range of secondary workpiece materials. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is suited for light, close-tolerance material removal where surface finish matters. CNC machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary end users.

This insert belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and is intended for screw-clamped toolholders in external turning and profiling applications. Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of toolholder configurations. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with rated secondary suitability for stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, N, S). It is well-suited for finishing passes where tight dimensional tolerances and consistent chip control are required.

Key Features

  • 1125 grade carbide with PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating for extended tool life on steel
  • UM chip breaker geometry engineered for finishing operations with reliable chip control
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (ISO code D) supports profiling and contour turning
  • Neutral hand orientation for flexible toolholder compatibility within CoroTurn 107 screw-clamp systems
  • 1/32-inch corner radius for fine surface finish requirements
  • Two cutting edges per insert

Compatibility

Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders accepting DCGT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. ISO designation DCGT 07 02 08-UM 1125. Compatible with insert size code 21.52 and toolholders specifying clearance code C and tolerance code G.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamp screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
