The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730410 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Carrying the DCGT32.51-UM 1115 designation, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The 1115 grade substrate is applied with a PVD-deposited TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed finishing passes. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow efficiently on difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments rely on this insert for consistent, repeatable surface finish results.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations on stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. It fits within the CoroTurn 107 series tooling system, which uses a screw-clamping holding method. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch insert thickness make it appropriate for small-to-medium turning tools used in both high-volume production and precision job-shop environments where tight tolerances on challenging alloys are required.
Designed for use with the CoroTurn 107 series toolholding system. ISO code DCGT 11 T3 04-UM 1115 identifies compatible toolholders accepting a DCGT-style insert with a screw-clamping (clearance code C, tolerance code G) interface. Verify toolholder bore and insert pocket dimensions against the CoroTurn 107 specification before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the CoroTurn 107 toolholder to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Follow all applicable shop safety protocols and machine-tool manufacturer guidelines when handling carbide inserts, as edges are extremely sharp.
