The SANDVIK COROMANT 5728682 is a modular turning profiling head from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand cutting head features a C5 system size interface for secure connection to compatible modular tooling shanks. The head projects 3.1496 inches (80 mm) and positions the cutting edge 0.5118 inches (13 mm) from center, making it well suited for accurate profiling passes. It accepts CCMT 09T308 inserts held by a clamp and screw method, and is equipped with through-coolant capability to support chip evacuation and insert life in demanding turning applications.
This profiling head is intended for use in precision turning environments where modular tooling systems are required for flexibility and repeatability. It is suited for shops running high-mix production on CNC turning equipment where quick head changes between operations are essential. The minimum bore diameter for internal applications is 0.9843 inches (25 mm), and the center-to-cutting height measures 2.2047 inches (56 mm). Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the typical end users for this type of modular cutting head.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series modular tooling systems in C5 system size. Compatible insert style is CCMT 3(2.5)2, with complete insert compatibility confirmed for CCMT 09T308.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC tooling technician or machinist. Before mounting the head, ensure the machine spindle is locked and all motion is fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench for the modular coupling interface as specified by the tooling system manufacturer documentation. Verify insert seating and clamp torque before resuming cutting operations, and confirm coolant lines are clear and delivering flow through the head before engaging the workpiece.
