The SANDVIK COROMANT 5728660 is a modular turning profiling head designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Part of the T-Max P series, this left-hand cutting head mounts to a C5 system interface with a head connection size of 32 and delivers a center-to-cutting-edge distance of 1.378 inches (35 mm). The head accepts CNMG 120408 inserts held by a wedge clamping method, providing rigid, repeatable insert location. Through-coolant capability is built in, directing coolant directly to the cutting zone to extend insert life and improve chip evacuation in deep bore applications. This head is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production turning environments.
This profiling head is suited for internal profiling and turning in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 4.331 inches (110 mm) and a maximum hole depth of 2.362 inches (60 mm). The head length projection is 2.362 inches (60 mm). It is used in both roughing and finishing passes where a consistent, modular tooling platform reduces changeover time. Applications include internal contour turning on medium to large diameter workpieces in aerospace, automotive, and general machining production environments. The left-hand cutting direction suits specific spindle rotation and approach angle requirements common in these setups.
Compatible with CNMG 120408 inserts. Designed for use with C5 system-size modular toolholders in the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. Minimum bore diameter for use is 4.331 inches (110 mm).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with modular turning systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the head. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw and head connection interface. Verify coolant line connections are secure before resuming cutting operations to ensure through-coolant flow reaches the insert.
