The SANDVIK COROMANT 5728004 is an ER32 collet chuck designed for modular connection tooling systems using a C4-size shank interface. It accepts ER32-series collets and delivers a 2.126-inch projection from the shank face, with an overall length of 3.071 inches and a nose diameter of 1.969 inches. The chuck is balanced to 39,000 RPM, making it suitable for high-speed machining centers where runout and dynamic balance are critical. Through-coolant capability is built in, directing cutting fluid directly to the tool tip for heat management and chip evacuation. Actuation is by wrench. This chuck is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC machining centers equipped with compatible modular tooling systems.
The 5728004 is suited for use on CNC machining centers that accept C4 modular connection tooling. The ER32 collet system accommodates a wide range of shank diameters within the ER32 collet bore range, making this chuck versatile across milling, drilling, reaming, and tapping operations. Through-coolant routing supports high-speed and high-temperature applications where flood coolant alone is insufficient. The compact projection length helps maintain rigidity in confined workholding setups.
Designed for use with C4 modular connection tooling systems and ER32-series collets. Compatible with CNC machining centers equipped with C4 modular interfaces.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Verify that the C4 modular connection and all mating surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs before assembly. Ensure through-coolant passages are clear and that the collet and collet nut are within the manufacturer-specified condition before clamping. Refer to the machine tool builder documentation and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and confirming runout after installation.
