The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726617 is a solid carbide internal grooving tool designed for precision groove cutting in bore and ID turning applications. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent groove geometry in production and repair environments. The tool features a 2 mm groove width and a 6 mm shank diameter, with an overall length of 39.85 mm (approximately 1.57 inches) and a projection of 24.85 mm (approximately 0.98 inches). It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC lathes, manual lathes, and boring equipment.
This grooving tool is suited for internal grooving operations in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 6.20 mm (approximately 0.244 inches). The maximum hole depth it can reach is 15 mm (approximately 0.59 inches), making it appropriate for shallow to mid-depth groove applications in both production machining and maintenance repair operations. The compact shank length of approximately 21.85 mm (0.86 inches) allows for stable tool holding in standard boring bar setups.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide grooving tool for use in standard 6 mm shank tool holders on CNC and manual lathes performing internal grooving operations.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank in a compatible tool holder to the holder manufacturer's specified clamping torque range. Verify tool runout and projection before beginning a cut. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool operating standards when setting up grooving operations.
