The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726325 is a solid carbide grooving tool designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from 1025 solid carbide stock, it features a TiCN/TiN physical vapor deposition finish that improves surface hardness and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The tool is configured for right-hand cut orientation and carries a 0.008-inch corner radius, making it well suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles where edge geometry consistency matters. Machinists and toolroom technicians install and service this type of insert tooling in production and job-shop turning environments.
This grooving tool is appropriate for use in precision turning applications where controlled groove width, depth, and corner geometry are required. The right-hand cut configuration suits standard lathe setups where the spindle rotates counterclockwise when viewed from the tailstock. The solid carbide substrate and dual-layer TiCN/TiN coating support use across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron at moderate to high cutting speeds. It is packaged individually and sold as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement grooving tool for use in compatible SANDVIK COROMANT grooving toolholders and systems that accept this geometry and shank specification. Verify holder compatibility against the tool geometry before installation.
Installation of grooving tooling should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with CNC turning center setup. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before seating or replacing cutting inserts or tool bodies. Verify that the tool is properly torqued into its holder per the holder manufacturer's specifications and confirm runout before returning the machine to production. Do not exceed the cutting parameter ranges recommended for the substrate and coating grade being used.
