The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726133 is a CPMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating over a 2035-grade carbide substrate, providing heat resistance and wear life suited for stainless steel machining. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 0.40 mm corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 6.35 mm. It is held in place by a screw-clamping method and incorporates the MM chip breaker geometry for controlled chip evacuation during medium cutting passes.
This insert is engineered for turning stainless steel workpieces as its primary application, classified under ISO material group M. It belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series, which is designed for external and internal turning with screw-on insert clamping. Typical installation scenarios include finishing and semi-finishing passes on CNC lathes where chip control and surface finish consistency are critical. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 6.05 mm in stainless steel operations.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series screw-clamping toolholders that accept CPMT-style inserts with a 2.80 mm hole diameter and CPMT 06 02 04 insert size designation. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clearance angle requirements before installation.
Insert replacement and toolholder setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the correct torque screwdriver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the screw-clamp to avoid insert fracture or improper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut for the insert geometry, as overloading the cutting edge can cause premature failure or workpiece damage.
