The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725484 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert in grade 2025, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. With an 80-degree diamond shape (C code), a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, a 0.6986-inch insert length, and a 1/16-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for medium-to-heavy stock removal. It ships as a neutral-hand insert with an N clearance angle, a 1/4-inch thickness, and the MR chip breaker geometry. Licensed HVAC technicians are not the intended installer — this part is for machinist and tooling professionals.
This insert is optimized for turning stainless steel (ISO material group M) and belongs to the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series. It is suited for external and internal turning where consistent chip control and edge integrity are required. The MR chip breaker geometry is designed to handle the gummy, work-hardening characteristics of austenitic and other stainless-steel alloys. It is held in the tool body by clamp and pin, and four cutting edges are available per insert, making it a cost-effective choice for production environments running medium-depth turning passes.
Designed for use in CNMG 644 toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.3120-inch hole diameter. ISO designation is CNMG 19 06 16-MR 2025. Compatible with clamp-and-pin style toolholding systems. Part of the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamp to manufacturer torque specifications for the toolholder in use. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to avoid premature edge failure or insert breakage.
