The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725480 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. This insert carries grade 2025 carbide substrate with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, making it well suited for interrupted and continuous cuts in stainless steel and other demanding workpiece materials. With an 80-degree diamond shape, neutral hand orientation, and four usable cutting edges, it delivers consistent performance across moderate to high material-removal passes. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
The 5725480 is intended for use in T-Max P compatible toolholders on CNC turning centers handling stainless steel (ISO material code M) as its primary workpiece material. The HM chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip control in tough, work-hardening alloys. With a 3/4-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0469-inch corner radius, this insert fits medium to large boring and external turning applications where edge stability and thermal resistance are priorities. It ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in T-Max P series toolholders that accept CNMG 643 inserts. ISO designation: CNMG 19 06 12-HM 2025. Holding method is clamp and pin; verify toolholder pocket configuration before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the spindle powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the pocket seat and locating pin for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Do not use a damaged or worn pocket, as uneven seating will affect dimensional tolerances and can cause premature edge failure.
