The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725116 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Grade 2025 carbide substrate with a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to moderate to heavy turning operations. Insert length measures 0.5874 inches with a 5/8-inch (0.6250 inch) inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thickness, and a 3/64-inch corner radius. It is installed and serviced by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert fits standard CNMG toolholders with clamp and pin holding methods. The 80-degree diamond shape and neutral relief angle make it well suited for longitudinal turning, facing, and profiling passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The HM chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium machining conditions. ISO code CNMG 16 06 12-HM 2025 allows direct cross-reference to equivalent toolholder seat specifications. Typical applications include shaft turning, shoulder work, and general-purpose OD turning in both continuous and interrupted cut conditions.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 543 insert size with clamp and pin holding. ISO designation CNMG 16 06 12-HM 2025 can be used to verify seat and pocket compatibility with existing tooling setups.
Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert — improper clamping force can cause insert movement or breakage under cut. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Disposal of worn carbide inserts should follow applicable shop waste and recycling procedures for cutting tool materials.
