The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724851 is an uncoated solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to ISO code CCGT120404UMH10A, it features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C), a neutral hand orientation, and a UM chip breaker geometry. The H10A carbide grade is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0157-inch) corner radius, this insert delivers tight tolerances and a clean surface finish on difficult-to-machine materials. It mounts via screw holding and is part of the CoroTurn 107 series.
This insert is engineered for turning superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), making it applicable in aerospace, power generation, and high-performance manufacturing environments. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing cuts where controlled chip evacuation and edge integrity are critical. Typical install scenarios include external turning on CNC lathes and turning centers where consistent insert-to-insert repeatability is required. The uncoated H10A substrate provides sharp cutting edges and low friction against heat-sensitive workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCGT431 geometry inserts with screw clamping. Compatible with CNC lathes and turning centers machining superalloys and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating in the pocket before resuming cutting operations, and confirm correct tool offset compensation in the control after each insert change.
