The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724454 is a CNMG432-WF 1125 series turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert features a solid carbide substrate with a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and wear protection in demanding cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to general turning and profiling. With 4 cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it suits a wide range of toolholder configurations. The WF chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation in finishing and light roughing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for machining steel (ISO material code P) as its primary workpiece material and stainless steel (ISO material code M) as a secondary application. It is used in production turning environments where surface finish control and chip management are critical. The T-Max P series designation places this insert within a toolholder system widely used in ISO-standard external turning applications at shops running medium to high production volumes. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, automotive, and general manufacturing settings will find this insert well-suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous materials.
Designed for use in CNMG-style ISO turning toolholders within the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series system. Insert Size Code 432 with ISO code CNMG 12 04 08-WF 1125. Compatible toolholders must accept CNMG insert style with clamp and pin holding method.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool crib technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable LOTO procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp and pin are properly engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate range for the 1125 grade on the workpiece material being machined.
