The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724412 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCET style, designed for precision external turning operations. It carries a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition, which supports performance in steel and stainless steel cutting applications. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0157-inch) corner radius. With a clearance code of C and tolerance code of E, it fits screw-clamped toolholders in the CoroTurn 107 series. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in turning centers and lathes where close-tolerance, light-depth finishing passes are required.
This insert is suited for turning steel (ISO material group P) as its primary workpiece material and stainless steel (ISO material group M) as its secondary workpiece material. The UM chip breaker geometry is intended for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The maximum depth of cut is 6.05 mm (0.2382 inches), making this insert appropriate for light to moderate material removal in production turning environments. It is used in both manual and CNC turning applications where consistent edge performance and coating durability are required across high-volume runs.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is compatible with CCET-style screw-clamped toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a clearance code C and tolerance code E. ISO code for this insert is CCET060204UM1125.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down and lock out the machine spindle per the equipment manufacturer's lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw; use the torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris that could affect seating and edge repeatability before installation.
