The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724399 is a CNMG432-MM 2025 indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating, this insert is engineered for durability and thermal resistance during continuous and interrupted cuts. It features an 80-degree diamond shape (C insert shape code), a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0313-inch (1/32 inch) corner radius. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation. The insert carries a neutral hand orientation and offers four usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing cost efficiency per edge for production shops.
This insert is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series, which targets medium to finishing turning operations. Its primary workpiece material classification is stainless steel (ISO code M), making it well suited for shops machining austenitic, duplex, or martensitic stainless grades. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and profiling passes on a CNC lathe where controlled chip formation and edge stability are critical. The ISO designation for this insert is CNMG 12 04 08-MM 2025. Sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in toolholders that accept CNMG 432 inserts with clamp and pin holding method. Refer to SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P toolholder documentation for confirmed seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and SANDVIK-specified clamping hardware to secure the insert — do not substitute generic clamps. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new edge; a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and surface finish quality.
