The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724290 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. This CCMT-style insert carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation. The MM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of depths of cut. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary capability in stainless steel. The insert measures 0.3493 inches in length and seats with a screw-holding method for secure, repeatable positioning in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces in CNC lathe and turning center applications, both roughing and finishing passes depending on feed and depth selection. The CoroTurn 107 series is designed for external turning, profiling, and light facing operations. The CCMT geometry with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle fits standard indexable toolholders in that size class. The 1/32-inch corner radius supports moderate finishing requirements while maintaining edge strength. This insert is a production-floor workhorse appropriate for job shops, contract manufacturers, and production machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting CCMT 09 T3 08 insert size. Compatible with screw-clamp style indexable toolholders in the CCMT 3/8-inch inscribed circle class.
Indexable turning inserts should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or wrench for the clamp screw to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
