The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724169 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to longitudinal turning and facing passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is configured for finish and semi-finish work on steel and stainless steel components.
This insert is intended for use in screw-clamped toolholders compatible with the CCMT insert family. It is well suited to finishing and light roughing passes on steel (ISO material group P) and stainless steel (ISO material group M) in production machining environments. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for low cutting forces and reliable chip control at finish-to-semi-finish depths of cut, making it a common choice for close-tolerance turning on CNC turning cells in job shops and high-volume production facilities. ISO designation for this insert is CCMT 09 T3 04-UF 1125.
Designed for use in screw-clamped CCMT-style turning toolholders. Compatible with toolholders accepting a CCMT 09 T3 04 insert per ISO designation. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamp screw compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the pocket seat and clamp components for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
