The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724152 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. The insert measures 0.365 inches in length with a 0.375-inch (3/8 inch) inscribed circle and a 0.016-inch corner radius. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. This insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 pieces.
This insert is optimized for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) in turning applications where consistent chip control and surface finish are critical. The CoroTurn 107 series accommodates screw-on insert holding in compatible toolholders. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on stainless steel components in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical, food processing, and general manufacturing will find this insert appropriate for stainless steel grades that demand reliable edge performance and predictable tool life.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts with a 0.173-inch hole diameter and screw clamping. ISO code CCMT 09 T3 04-UM 2025. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is isolated. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not over-tighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
