The SANDVIK COROMANT 5724075 is a CCGT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO code CCGT 09 T3 01-UM 1105, it features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life on demanding cuts. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.10 mm corner radius, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight surface finish tolerances are required. Installation and toolpath selection are handled by machinists and CNC programmers working with screw-type insert holders.
This insert is intended primarily for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, which is designed for external profiling and facing operations in light to medium cutting conditions. The UM chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during finishing operations, reducing the risk of chip entanglement at lower feed rates. Applications include shaft turning, shoulder machining, and contour turning in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-type toolholders accepting CCGT inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Verify holder seat and screw specifications against CoroTurn 107 toolholder documentation before installation.
Insert seating and clamping is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not use impact tools on the insert screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or damage before seating a new insert.
