The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723972 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Built to the CoroTurn 107 series standard, it carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under the manufacturer grade designation 2015. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a 1/64-inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. With an inscribed circle of 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) and an insert thickness of 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch), it is sized for light to medium turning passes. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists working with precision turning equipment.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material code M. The MM chip breaker geometry is suited for controlled chip formation in semi-finish to finish turning applications. The screw-type insert holding method (Clearance Code C, Tolerance Code M) makes it compatible with standard CCMT toolholders. Two cutting edges per insert are available, offering a cost-effective tool life cycle in production turning environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT-style toolholders within the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series. Confirmed ISO designation: CCMT 06 02 04-MM 2015.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle at a full stop and all power isolated from the turning center or lathe. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for recommended cutting parameters when changing insert grades or chip breaker styles.
