The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723935 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes. The insert features a diamond (80-degree) shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a neutral hand orientation. It carries a 1115 grade carbide substrate with a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and wear performance suited to difficult-to-machine materials. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.20 mm corner radius, this insert is sized for light to medium finishing cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this tooling.
This insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and performs effectively on superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish are critical. Typical applications include turning complex stainless and superalloy components in aerospace, medical device, and precision industrial manufacturing environments. The CoroTurn 107 series is designed for positive rake toolholders using screw-clamped insert seating.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting CCMT inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. ISO designation CCMT 06 02 02-MF 1115 confirms fitment to any toolholder specified for that ISO code.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating guidelines for screw-clamped indexable inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Always index or replace the insert before cutting edge condition degrades to the point of work-hardening the workpiece surface, particularly when machining stainless steel and superalloys. Follow machine shop lockout/tagout procedures before handling tooling changes on live spindle equipment.
