The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723899 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert carries the ISO designation CCMT 06 02 02-UF 5015 and features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. The UF chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to medium finishing cuts, and the uncoated 5015 grade carbide substrate delivers consistent edge performance on ferrous workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.246 inches in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 0.20 mm corner radius, making it suited for close-tolerance finishing passes.
This insert is used primarily in turning operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production-floor and job-shop environments. The CCMT style with screw-holding method fits standard CoroTurn 107 toolholders designed for this insert family. With two cutting edges per insert, it is appropriate for internal and external turning where a light, precise finish is the priority. Machinists and CNC operators working on medium-to-small diameter features will find the 1/4-inch inscribed circle size well suited to finish-turning passes on steel components.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCMT 06 02 style inserts with screw-holding retention. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO code K).
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use and index or replace the insert when edge condition degrades to avoid workpiece damage.
