The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723891 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, providing high heat resistance and edge wear protection during continuous and light interrupted cuts. Key dimensional specs include a 1/4-inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle, a 0.246-inch insert length, and a 0.20 mm corner radius. Two cutting edges per insert are available, and the neutral hand orientation suits straight turning tool holders. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this insert is a direct replacement unit within the CoroTurn 107 platform.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel (ISO material code P) and secondary use on stainless steel (ISO material code M). The UF chip breaker geometry is suited for finishing operations requiring close tolerances and fine surface finishes at moderate to light depths of cut. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on parts made from low-alloy steels, carbon steels, and austenitic stainless steels. It is held in place by a screw-lock method (insert holding method: screw), making it compatible with CoroTurn 107 screw-on tool holders that accept CCMT geometry inserts.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 screw-on tool holders that accept CCMT-style inserts. ISO designation CCMT 06 02 02-UF 1125 can be used to cross-reference compatible holder specifications. Suitable for CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with appropriate CCMT insert pockets.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver specified by the tool holder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
