The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723748 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. This insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate, using the manufacturer grade designation 2025. The neutral hand orientation and UM chip breaker geometry make it well suited for medium finishing and light roughing passes. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 0.3493 inches. The screw-clamping holding method ensures positive location and quick indexing on the shop floor.
This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group M. It fits into the CoroTurn 107 series toolholding system and is sized to the ISO code CCMT 09 T3 08-UM 2025. Typical applications include finish turning and light interrupted cuts on austenitic and duplex stainless alloys in both production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical device, and general precision manufacturing are the primary users. The insert sells individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
This insert is dimensioned to the ISO code CCMT 09 T3 08-UM 2025 and is compatible with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders designed to accept CCMT 32.52 inserts with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, confirm that the machine spindle is stopped and all axes are in a safe park position. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the torque specified in the toolholder manufacturer documentation — do not estimate clamping torque. Inspect the pocket seat and contact surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge, as contamination will affect edge height repeatability and surface finish.
