The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723557 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for precision shoulder milling operations in metal cutting applications. Part of the CoroMill 490 series, it accepts 490R-08T308 style inserts and holds up to 7 inserts simultaneously for high-productivity cuts. The cutter features a 90-degree lead angle, enabling true square shoulders in a single pass. Through-coolant capability supports extended insert life and chip evacuation during demanding cuts. With a 2-inch cutting diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2165 inches, this tool is suited for rigid setups on CNC machining centers. The body is constructed from steel and runs in a right-hand cutting direction.
The 5723557 is intended for use on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers in industrial manufacturing environments. It is well-suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations on steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The 3/4-inch arbor hole diameter fits standard arbor-style spindle interfaces commonly found on production machining equipment. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking facilities will find this cutter a direct fit for high-volume square-shoulder profiling work.
Designed for use with 490R-08T308 compatible inserts as specified by the CoroMill 490 series platform. Insert holding is achieved via clamp and screw method. Fits standard 3/4-inch arbor hole spindle interfaces.
Installation and tooling setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling engineer. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the cutter body or changing inserts. Ensure the arbor and cutter bore are clean and free of chips or burrs before assembly to maintain runout tolerances. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for arbor retention hardware and the insert manufacturer guidance for insert clamping screws.
