The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723490 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making operations in metalworking applications. Built on the CoroDrill 880 series platform, this drill accepts two indexable inserts in drill style A880..LXxx-05 and delivers a maximum drill depth of 2.9224 inches at a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The cutting diameter reaches 0.5974 inches (14.27 mm), making it suited for precision through-hole and blind-hole work. The steel body is engineered for rigidity under interrupted and continuous cutting conditions. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in demanding materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This indexable insert drill is intended for use on CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and manual boring mills where straight-shank toolholders are standard. The 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for applications requiring moderate-depth holes without step drilling. The right-hand cutting direction and coolant-through design suit ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in both low-volume and high-volume production settings. Compatible drill style A880..LXxx-05 inserts are required for proper operation.
Compatible with A880..LXxx-05 drill style indexable inserts with an insert size of 0.0945 inches (2.40 mm). Designed for use in straight-shank toolholders with a 0.75 inches bore diameter on CNC machining centers and similar equipment.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts or mounting the drill body. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and unobstructed before commencing a cut. Follow the insert manufacturer's recommended cutting data for the specific workpiece material to avoid insert fracture or premature wear.
