The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723324 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes. It carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting cycles. The insert uses an 80-degree diamond shape (CCMT style) with a 7-degree relief angle, a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius. It features a WF chip breaker geometry and is manufactured to ISO grade 1125. The neutral hand orientation and screw-clamp holding method make it straightforward to seat in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert for finishing and medium-roughing passes.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. The WF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium depth-of-cut applications where controlled chip evacuation is critical. It is a common choice for close-tolerance turning work where surface finish and dimensional accuracy must be maintained across multiple edges. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order, making it appropriate for shop replenishment and production floor stocking.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCMT 09 T3 insert geometry with screw-clamp (Hole Diameter 0.1732 inches) mounting. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M).
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and accurate tool-length offset.
