The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723302 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the manufacturer grade 1125 and features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which delivers elevated wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The insert measures 0.365 inches in length with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle diameter and a 1/64 inch corner radius. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing passes, producing tight chip control at light depths of cut and low feed rates.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. It is part of the CoroTurn 107 series, which is designed for external profiling and turning on positive-rake toolholders. Typical use cases include high-precision diameter turning, facing, and contour following on components requiring tight surface finish tolerances. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and aerospace or medical component manufacturing will find this insert well-matched to light-chip, high-surface-finish operations.
Designed for use in positive-rake CCMT insert-style toolholders within the CoroTurn 107 series. Compatible with ISO code CCMT 09 T3 04-MF 1125 toolholder specifications. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO P); secondary compatibility is stainless steel (ISO M).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris prior to seating to avoid insert rocking and premature edge failure.
