The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723285 is an indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built on the CoroDrill 880 platform, it accepts two indexable inserts in a drill style A880..LXxx-02 configuration and delivers a maximum drill depth of 2.7815 inches at a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1.5 inches in diameter, and the tool body is constructed from steel. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during drilling. This tool is suited for use in CNC machining centers and lathes with live tooling, and is installed and set up by machinists and tooling technicians.
This indexable insert drill is intended for production environments requiring accurate, repeatable hole diameters up to 1.3679 inches (33.33 mm). The 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio makes it well suited for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in a range of workpiece materials. The coolant-through design supports use in applications where chip control and tool life are critical. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Typical applications include general machining, structural component drilling, and high-volume production runs on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Compatible with drill insert style A880..LXxx-02. Designed as part of the CoroDrill 880 series platform. Insert size is 0.1378 inches (3.50 mm). Verify insert grade and geometry selection with current tooling documentation before ordering inserts separately.
Installation and tool setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting or changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per shop safety procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the insert clamping screws; do not over-torque clamping hardware. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and that the machine coolant pressure is within the tool manufacturer's recommended range before starting the cut.
