The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723277 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built to the CoroDrill 880 series drill style A880..LXxx-03, this tool accepts two indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 5.425 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The maximum drill diameter is 1.864 inches (44.45 mm), and the steel body provides the rigidity required for demanding machining centers and CNC turning-mill setups. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and insert life in interrupted or deep-hole cuts. This is a production-grade drilling tool for machinists and toolroom professionals working in aerospace, automotive, and general metal fabrication environments.
The 5723277 is suited for use on machining centers, CNC mills, and turning centers where consistent hole geometry and insert indexability are required. The straight cylindrical shank at 1.5 inches diameter fits standard ER and hydraulic toolholders used in production shops. With a flute length of 6.4592 inches and a shank length of 2.756 inches, this drill fits typical spindle-nose-to-work clearances in vertical and horizontal machining center setups. It is appropriate for both through-hole and blind-hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Compatible with indexable inserts conforming to drill style A880..LXxx-03 with an insert size of 0.1772 inches (4.50 mm). Designed for use in machining centers and CNC milling or turning-mill platforms that accept a 1.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility safety protocols. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly clamped in the toolholder to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque before operation. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and coolant pressure is set per the machining center's operating parameters before drilling. Follow insert manufacturer indexing and torque guidelines when seating replacement inserts.
