The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723245 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision machining of non-ferrous metals and superalloys. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (CCGX style) with a neutral hand orientation and a bright, uncoated finish in grade H10. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), insert length is 0.3493 inches, and the corner radius is 1/32 inches (0.0313 inches). It is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and delivers two cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in turning centers and lathes for finishing and semi-finishing passes on non-ferrous workpieces.
This insert is suited for turning operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, as well as secondary applications in superalloys and titanium. The AL chip breaker geometry is optimized for free-cutting conditions typical in light to medium material removal on these material families. It is commonly used in production turning environments where surface finish consistency and edge sharpness are priorities. The ISO code for this insert is CCGX 09 T3 08-AL H10, which can be used for cross-referencing with compatible toolholders.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders compatible with CCGX-style inserts. The ISO designation CCGX 09 T3 08-AL H10 can be used to identify compatible holder configurations. Primary workpiece material code N (non-ferrous metals); secondary workpiece material code S (superalloys and titanium).
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and ensure the insert seats fully and squarely in the pocket before securing. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris prior to installation to maintain dimensional accuracy.
