The SANDVIK COROMANT 5723239 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning applications. This insert features a diamond coating applied to a carbide substrate and carries the ISO designation CCGX 09 T3 04-AL H10. The diamond-shaped insert body has an 80-degree included angle, a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0156-inch (1/64 inch) corner radius. Insert length measures 0.365 inches and thickness is 0.1563 inches (5/32 inch). It is held in place by a screw-clamping method and offers two usable cutting edges per insert. The AL chip breaker geometry and H10 grade make this insert well suited to finishing and semi-finishing operations.
This insert is intended primarily for machining non-ferrous metals, with secondary application in superalloys and titanium. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, which is engineered for external and internal turning on CNC lathes in both light finishing and medium-duty passes. Neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of toolholder configurations. Machinists and CNC turning specialists working with aluminum, copper alloys, or titanium components will find this insert appropriate for demanding surface-finish requirements where diamond-grade tooling is specified.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCGX 09 T3 04-AL style inserts with screw-clamping retention. Compatible toolholders must accommodate a 0.1563-inch hole diameter and the CCGX insert shape code with clearance code C and tolerance code G.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer-specified feel — do not overtighten, as insert cracking can result. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
