The RWC UC4008LFA is a SharkBite crimp-style transition fitting designed to connect 1/2-inch PEX tubing to 1/2-inch Polybutylene pipe. The body is manufactured from lead-free DZR brass, meeting NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF 372 requirements for potable water contact. Two color-coordinated crimp rings are included: a black ring for the PEX side and a copper-colored ring for the Polybutylene side, eliminating guesswork during installation. Plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting as a low-cost, direct transition where existing Polybutylene supply lines meet new PEX distribution runs.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial potable water distribution systems as well as hydronic heating applications. It is a practical solution during Polybutylene pipe remediation projects, where sections of aging Poly pipe are being replaced or extended with PEX tubing. The two-ring system ensures each side receives the correct crimp ring for its material without requiring separate purchases.
Rated for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications. Designed to connect 1/2-inch PEX tubing to 1/2-inch Polybutylene pipe using standard crimp-ring installation tooling.
Installation requires a calibrated PEX crimp tool and a go/no-go gauge to verify ring seating on both sides of the fitting. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing pipe. Follow local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines for transition fittings in potable water systems. Verify that the correct color-coded crimp ring is placed on the correct pipe material before crimping.
