The RWC 24091 is an automatic air vent designed to remove trapped air from closed hydronic heating and cooling systems. Air pockets in a hydronic loop reduce flow efficiency and can cause noise, uneven heat distribution, and equipment strain. The 24091 releases accumulated air automatically as it collects at high points in the system, helping maintain consistent water circulation. This type of fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians during system commissioning or as part of a service call on an underperforming loop.
The 24091 is suited for residential and light commercial hydronic systems, including hot water baseboard heating, radiant floor loops, and chilled water fan coil installations. It is typically installed at the highest point in a piping circuit where air naturally migrates. The compact form factor allows installation in tight mechanical spaces without special tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style air vent for use in closed-loop hydronic heating and cooling piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician. Depressurize and drain the affected portion of the hydronic loop before removing or installing any air vent fitting. Verify thread type and size before installation to ensure a leak-free connection, and apply appropriate thread sealant per local plumbing code. After installation, re-pressurize the system slowly and inspect the vent and surrounding fittings for leaks before returning the system to service.
