The RUST-OLEUM 9801419 is the activator component for the 9800 System DTM Urethane Mastic, a two-part direct-to-metal coating engineered for industrial protective applications. This activator must be ordered and mixed with the 9800 System base coat to create a high-solids, high-build finish that delivers corrosion resistance in moderate to severe industrial environments. The cured coating is sag resistant and formulated for long-term color retention on metal surfaces. Industrial painters and maintenance coatings contractors are the primary installers. The system meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food processing facilities.
The 9800 System is designed for application on tanks, towers, structural steel, metal equipment, and similar substrates exposed to aggressive industrial conditions. The DTM formula bonds directly to properly prepared metal without a separate primer step in many applications, though pairing with the HS9300 System Epoxy Primer in red or gray is recommended for best results. This gallon-size activator is sold separately from the base coat. Minimum order quantity is 2 units per the supplier specification.
This activator is the companion component to the RUST-OLEUM 9800 System DTM Urethane Mastic base coat, sold separately. For enhanced corrosion protection, the system is recommended for use over the HS9300 System Epoxy Primer.
Application of two-component urethane coatings should be performed by experienced industrial painters familiar with mixing ratios and pot life limitations. Follow all manufacturer mixing instructions precisely before application, as improper activation ratios will compromise film performance. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of oil, rust scale, and loose material before coating. Adequate ventilation and appropriate respiratory protection are required during mixing and application per applicable safety standards.
