The RUST-OLEUM 9479402 is a two-component, high-gloss polyester urethane topcoat engineered for severe-duty corrosion protection. Part of the 9400 System, this 1-gallon unit delivers ultra-high-gloss black finish with exceptional durability in aggressive environments including coastal, offshore, and chemically intensive applications. The two-part formulation requires a separately ordered activator before application. It resists impact, abrasion, and harsh chemicals including muriatic acid, making it a go-to finish coat where standard industrial topcoats fall short. Licensed applicators and industrial maintenance painters working in heavy corrosion zones will find this product engineered to perform where the environment demands maximum film integrity.
This coating is designed for use on vehicles, structural steel, storage tanks, and similar substrates exposed to severe coastal or offshore conditions. It meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities, making it appropriate for food-adjacent industrial environments. It is intended for use within the full 9400 System, which includes compatible 9400 System Primers, 9400 System Accelerator, and 9400 System Leveling Additive for optimized results.
Formulated for use within the Rust-Oleum 9400 System. Recommended for use with 9400 System Primers, 9400 System Accelerator, and 9400 System Leveling Additive. Base color and activator must be ordered separately.
Application of two-component polyurethane coatings should be performed by experienced industrial painters or coating applicators familiar with mixing ratios and pot-life limitations. Always power down or de-energize equipment before surface preparation and coating work begins. Ensure adequate ventilation and appropriate respiratory protection per applicable safety data sheet requirements. Follow all local environmental and safety regulations governing the use of isocyanate-containing coatings.
