The RUST-OLEUM 283088 is a heavy-duty, water-based elastomeric acrylic coating formulated for ultra-rugged protection in aggressive and corrosive environments. Sold as a 5-gallon unit, it delivers one-coat, high-build coverage on new or minimally prepared steel, mixed metals, and concrete surfaces. The single-component, self-priming formula eliminates the need for abrasive blast cleaning, saving prep time on the job. With 200% elasticity, the coating bridges small cracks, moves with the structure, and protects exposed edges. It is certified for corrosivity class C5-M High per ISO Standard 12944 by The Coatings Research Institute, Belgium, and carries a 10-year warranty (restrictions apply).
This coating is suited for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications where long-term corrosion resistance is required. Typical use cases include structural steel, metal roofing, storage tanks, marine structures, and concrete surfaces exposed to severe moisture or chemical environments. It meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities, making it appropriate for food processing and agricultural facilities. VOC-compliant nationwide. See manufacturer primer recommendations when applying over new galvanized steel or smooth metal and concrete substrates.
Designed for application on new or minimally prepared steel, mixed metals, and concrete surfaces in industrial, marine, commercial, and infrastructure settings.
Application should be performed by qualified coating or industrial maintenance professionals familiar with surface preparation standards and coating specifications. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of loose scale, grease, and contaminants before application; follow manufacturer surface prep guidelines for galvanized steel or smooth substrates. Consult the product data sheet for recommended spread rate, dry film thickness, and recoat windows. Follow all applicable local regulations and safety data sheet requirements for ventilation and personal protective equipment during application.
