The RUST-OLEUM 248284 is the activator component for the Sierra S60 Water-Based Epoxy Maintenance Coating system. This 1-gallon activator is combined with the matching S60 tint base to form a two-component, high-gloss epoxy finish engineered for demanding industrial and commercial environments. The formula carries low VOCs, low HAPs, and low solvent odor, making it suitable for occupied or semi-occupied facilities. The cured film is impervious to moisture, withstands frequent wash-downs, and can be easily cleaned and sanitized. Licensed coating contractors and maintenance painters are the primary installers for this product type.
The S60 activator is designed for surfaces subject to routine wash-down cycles, including food processing facilities, commercial kitchens, locker rooms, and light industrial interiors. The coating meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities. For maximum performance, application over an S70 or S71 primer is recommended. The activator is ordered separately from the tint base, allowing for color flexibility within the two-component S60 system.
Designed for use with the RUST-OLEUM Sierra S60 tint base as a two-component water-based epoxy system. Maximum performance is achieved when applied over an S70 or S71 primer. Satin finishes are represented by the Sierra S62 system, which uses a separate activator.
This product is a two-component epoxy activator and must be mixed with its corresponding tint base before application. Follow the manufacturer's mix ratio instructions precisely — do not alter component proportions. Ensure adequate ventilation during mixing and application, and observe all local VOC regulations. Allow the full 24-hour return-to-service cure time before subjecting the coated surface to wash-downs or chemical exposure.
