The ROTOR CLIP SH-62ST MCD is an external retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on a 5/8-inch shaft and prevent axial movement of assembled components. Manufactured from SAE 1060-1090 spring steel with a cadmium-plated finish, the ring delivers reliable corrosion resistance and the spring-back retention force required in demanding mechanical assemblies. The groove diameter is 0.588 inches, ring thickness is 0.035 inches, and hardness is rated at 66-71 HRC. It meets Military Specification MS 16624-1062 and is produced to SAE 1060-1090, UNS G10600-G10900, and ISO 13485:2015 standards. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical technicians working on shaft-driven components install this ring using standard retaining ring pliers.
This external retaining ring is suited for use on 5/8-inch shafts in light-duty to medium-duty mechanical assemblies, including motors, pumps, gearboxes, and actuators found in HVAC, plumbing, pool, and general industrial equipment. The cadmium-plated finish is appropriate for environments where mild corrosion protection is required. This part is sold in a package quantity of one ring, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units, making it appropriate for service shops and contractors maintaining a parts inventory.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 5/8-inch shafts with a 0.588-inch groove diameter, suitable for mechanical assemblies requiring axial retention in HVAC, plumbing, pool, and general industrial equipment.
Installation requires external retaining ring pliers sized for the ring gap; never use makeshift tools, as improper installation can cause the ring to slip or deform. Power down and de-energize any equipment before servicing shaft assemblies. Inspect the shaft groove for burrs or debris before seating the ring to ensure full groove engagement. Follow applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures when working on rotating equipment.
