The ROTOR CLIP SH-62SS MPS is an external retaining ring designed to secure components on a 5/8-inch (0.625 inches) shaft. Manufactured from 15-7 Grade 632 stainless steel and processed to an AMS-5529 (UNS S15700) specification, this ring delivers high hardness in the 66-71 HRC range alongside corrosion resistance suitable for demanding environments. The passivated finish provides additional protection against oxidation. With a groove diameter of 0.588 inches and a ring thickness of 0.035 inches, it seats precisely in a machined external groove. Licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assembly professionals typically install this style of ring using standard retaining ring pliers.
This external retaining ring is used in mechanical assemblies where axial retention of gears, bearings, pulleys, or other rotating or stationary components on a 5/8-inch shaft is required. It is well suited for aerospace, industrial, HVAC rotating equipment, pump assemblies, and other applications that call for high-strength stainless steel fasteners meeting military and industry standards. The ring meets Military Specification MS 16624-4062 and is ISO 13485:2015 compliant, making it appropriate for regulated manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 5/8-inch shaft diameter applications requiring a groove diameter of 0.588 inches. Verify groove width (0.039 inches) and groove depth (0.018 inches) against the shaft specification before installation.
Installation requires retaining ring pliers sized for external rings; using incorrect tooling can distort the ring and compromise retention. De-energize and lock out all power to rotating equipment before servicing any shaft assembly. Confirm the shaft groove dimensions match the ring specifications prior to installation to ensure proper seating and axial load capacity. Follow applicable industry standards and safety protocols for mechanical fastener installation in your application.
