The ROTOR CLIP SH-150SS MPS is an external retaining ring engineered for use on 1-1/2 inch diameter shafts. It seats in a precision-cut external groove to axially retain components such as bearings, gears, and pulleys on shafts and spindles. The ring is manufactured from 15-7 Grade 632 stainless steel to the AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 specifications, delivering high hardness in the 47 to 52 HRC range along with corrosion resistance. A passivated finish further extends service life in wet or chemically active environments. Licensed trades and mechanical assemblers working in industrial, marine, or food-processing applications typically specify this ring where standard carbon steel hardware is not acceptable.
This retaining ring is suited for shaft assemblies requiring a corrosion-resistant fastener with tight dimensional tolerances. The 1.406 inch groove diameter and 0.056 inch groove width accommodate precise groove machining to minimize axial play. The ring also carries a Military Specification designation of MS 16624-4150 and meets ISO 13485:2015, making it appropriate for regulated manufacturing environments including medical device assembly. Mechanical assemblers, maintenance technicians, and precision machinists working in OEM or MRO applications will find this ring a direct fit for grooved 1-1/2 inch shafts where stainless material is required.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 1-1/2 inch diameter shafts with a machined external groove matching a 1.406 inch groove diameter, 0.056 inch groove width, and 0.047 inch groove depth per MS 16624-4150 specifications.
External retaining rings of this type are installed and removed using dedicated external snap ring pliers; standard pliers can deform the ring and compromise retention. Ensure the shaft groove is clean, free of burrs, and dimensioned to print before installation. Confirm the ring is fully seated in the groove around its entire circumference before applying axial load. Personnel should wear eye protection during installation, as the ring can release under spring tension if slips occur.
