The ROTOR CLIP SE-31ST PA is an external E-style retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on the outside of a shaft and prevent axial movement of assembled components. Built from SAE 1060-1090 spring steel with a phosphate finish, it fits a 5/16-inch shaft diameter with a groove diameter of 0.250 inches. The three-prong E-style design allows the ring to be installed and removed without special pliers in many applications, making it a common choice for light-duty assemblies where frequent service is expected. Hardness runs 66.5 to 71 HR30N, providing reliable retention under moderate load. Licensed trades and mechanical assembly technicians use this ring across a wide range of industrial and mechanical service applications.
This retaining ring is suited for use on shafts measuring 5/16 inches in diameter where an external groove retainer is required. Typical applications include small motor shafts, pump assemblies, gearboxes, and other rotating or sliding shaft assemblies that require a low-profile, external retention solution. The phosphate finish provides a base level of corrosion resistance and paint adhesion where secondary coatings are applied. This part ships in a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces and is packaged as individual units.
Designed as an OEM-style external E-style retaining ring for shafts with a 5/16-inch diameter and a machined external groove meeting the dimensional specifications listed below.
Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or trade professionals as part of shaft and bearing assembly work. Ensure the shaft groove is clean and free of burrs before seating the ring, and verify groove dimensions match the specified tolerances to prevent ring walk or dislodgment. De-energize and lock out any rotating equipment before servicing components that use this retaining ring. Do not reuse rings that have been bent, deformed, or show signs of fatigue.
