Manufactured from 15-7 stainless steel to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 standards, it delivers high hardness in the 63 to 69.5 HRC range alongside corrosion resistance suited for demanding service environments. The ring seats in a shaft groove 0.127 inches in diameter, fits an 11/64 inch (0.1719 inch) shaft diameter, and measures 0.025 inches in thickness. Its three-prong E style profile allows quick installation and removal without specialized removal tooling, making it a practical choice for high-volume assembly and field service work.
This retaining ring is used in mechanical assemblies where a low-profile external ring is needed to retain bearings, bushings, or other components on small-diameter shafts. Typical applications include light machinery, pneumatic tools, small motors, medical device assemblies, and precision instrumentation. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for environments with moisture exposure or where material certifications such as ISO 13485:2015 compliance are required. Installation is performed by mechanical assemblers or maintenance technicians using standard E ring applicator pliers or manual press tools. Ensure the shaft groove is clean and free of burrs before seating the ring to achieve full groove engagement across all three prongs. Confirm the groove width of 0.029 inches and groove depth of 0.022 inches match the shaft before installation. Never reuse a retaining ring that has been removed, as the prongs may be deformed and retention force compromised.
