The ROTOR CLIP SE-14SS is an external E style retaining ring designed to seat in a precision groove on a shaft and provide a positive stop for assembled components. Manufactured from 15-7 stainless steel (Grade 632) to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 specifications, this ring delivers high hardness in the range of 63 to 69.5 HRC, making it suitable for demanding mechanical assemblies where corrosion resistance and strength are both required. It fits a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal) shaft diameter and features a three-prong design for positive retention and easy installation with standard E ring pliers. Typically installed by mechanical assemblers, maintenance technicians, or equipment builders working on small-diameter shafts in HVAC components, pump assemblies, motors, and similar equipment.
This E style retaining ring is used in applications where a conventional snap ring or spiral ring cannot be easily installed axially. The external mounting style means the ring snaps into a groove cut on the outside of a shaft, retaining gears, bearings, collars, or other components without the need for threads or welding. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for wet, corrosive, or cleanroom environments. The ISO 13485:2015 standard alignment indicates suitability in quality-managed manufacturing environments, including medical device assembly.
Designed for external groove retention on shafts with a nominal diameter of 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch decimal). Groove diameter is 0.102 inches. Verify shaft and groove dimensions against the specifications below before installation.
Installation and removal should be performed using E ring application pliers sized for small-diameter retaining rings to avoid distorting the prongs or damaging the groove. Power down all equipment and relieve any mechanical load or spring tension on the shaft assembly before servicing. Do not reuse a ring that has been removed, as repeated installation can reduce retention force. Shaft groove dimensions must fall within specified tolerances to ensure proper seating and retention.
