The ROTOR CLIP RE-31ST PA is an external reinforced E style retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on a shaft and resist axial displacement of assembled components. Built from SAE 1060-1090 steel with a phosphate finish, this ring fits a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) shaft diameter with a groove diameter of 0.25 inches. The three-prong reinforced E style design provides a secure grip without requiring special pliers for installation, making it a practical choice for high-volume mechanical assembly work. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly line professionals use this ring in applications where a compact, reliable retaining solution is required.
This retaining ring is suited for use in light machinery, motors, pumps, and precision mechanical assemblies where external shaft retention on small-diameter shafts is needed. The phosphate finish provides moderate corrosion resistance and improves lubrication retention in service environments. With a free outside diameter of 0.588 inches and a ring thickness of 0.025 inches, it fits into tight clearance applications. It is sold in a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces, making it appropriate for production and MRO inventory replenishment.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 5/16 inch shaft diameter applications in mechanical assemblies, motors, and precision equipment requiring SAE 1060-1090 steel E style rings.
Installation is typically performed by machinists or mechanical assembly technicians using standard E ring installation tools or flat-nose pliers. Ensure the shaft groove is clean and dimensioned to the specified groove width of 0.029 inches and groove depth of 0.031 inches before seating the ring. Power down and de-energize any equipment before servicing components that use retaining rings. Do not overstress the ring prongs during installation, as deformation will compromise retention force.
