The ROTOR CLIP E-50ST MCD is an external E style retaining ring designed for 1/2 inch (0.500 inch) shaft diameters. It seats in a precision groove to provide axial retention of components on shafts and spindles without the need for threads, snap grooves, or cotter pins. Made from SAE 1060-1090 steel with a cadmium finish, it delivers a hardness of 47-52 HRC and resists corrosion in demanding service environments. The three-prong E style design allows for tool-free installation and removal in many applications, making it a practical choice for production assembly and field service alike.
This retaining ring is used in mechanical assemblies across industrial, HVAC, and fluid-handling equipment where positive axial component retention on a shaft is required. Typical applications include motor shaft assemblies, pump components, gearboxes, and similar rotating or reciprocating machinery. It is installed by qualified mechanics and assemblers working on equipment that uses inch-dimensioned shafting. The cadmium plating makes it suitable for environments where mild corrosion resistance is needed alongside the structural performance of high-carbon steel.
Designed for use on 0.500 inch diameter shafts with a groove diameter of 0.396 inches. Conforms to Military Specification MS 16633-1050 and standards SAE 1060-1090 and UNS G10600-G10900, making it a direct fit wherever those specifications govern the retaining ring groove geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified mechanics or assemblers using standard E ring pliers or retaining ring installation tools appropriate for the ring size. Ensure the shaft groove is clean and free of burrs before seating the ring. De-energize and lock out all rotating or powered equipment before installing or removing retaining rings. Verify groove dimensions against the ring specifications prior to installation to prevent improper seating or ring failure under load.
